Today’s review is quite interesting as we will be discussing the Fluke A3003 FC Wire Digital DC Current Clamp Meter. First things first, the FC in the title means it is Fluke Connect enabled. What this entails is the ability to transmit wirelessly to other Fluke Connect enabled meters or view data via the Fluke Connect Mobile app or on a PC. This allows you to communicate with offsite coworkers and everyone can be on the same page.

Below I will touch on features of this unit, what tests this unit performs, and the role wireless technology can play in the field and why you should want it.

For today’s review I will be going over a classic Clamp Meter from Amprobe. The Amprobe ACD-51NAV is a CAT IV 600A TRMS Clamp Meter used for maintenance and spot checking purposes.

This unit measures up to 1000V and can handle power measurements as well as THD (Total Harmonics Distortion) and Individual Harmonics. The Navigator clamp allows for non-contact voltage detection as well as measuring Inrush currents.

Amprobe has released the new 300 series of Industrial Clamp meters. Today I will be reviewing the AMP-310 HVAC Clamp Meter which is the entry level version of this series. This model is CAT III 600V safety rated and features True-RMS for voltage readings you can depend on.  Some useful functions for this meter in regards to HVAC specific testing are DC Microamps, Diode Test, Temperature readings via Type K Thermocouple slot, and Inrush Current measurement.

Klein Tools may be a new name in Test and Measurement, but they are legendary in quality and performance. They have entered the Test and Measurement with quite a splash and are continuing that trend with the Klein Tools VDV501-815 TDR Ranger Kit. This multi-function tester is a powerhouse that can handle TDR, Cable Length Measurement, Fault Finding and Cable Management. The TDR accurately (+/- 1%) measures cable length up to 3000ft using the TDR Spread Spectrum Technology. You can also check for faults and determine if a cable run is broken or damaged.

      Today I will be discussing the Extech CT70 AC Circuit Load and Outlet Tester. This circuit load tester may be small, but it packs a big punch. The first thing you notice about this load and outlet tester is the digital display. This innovation is oddly late to the party but makes life so much easier.
