Fieldpiece Instruments is a California based manufacturer that produces professional-grade testing equipment with a specialty in the HVAC/R market. While most Multimeters are designed for laboratory work or for use by electricians, Fieldpiece wanted to create a meter that was specifically designed with HVAC technicians in mind. What they came up with was the Stick Digital Multimeter.

      This stick style multimeter handles many of the same tasks any normal multimeter can do including, but not limited to, AC Volts, Diode Test, Continuity, Capacitance, Resistance and DC Volts / Amps. The difference comes from the specially designed case that can accept any of the Fieldpiece Accessory heads. This provides the capability of expanding the multimeter without having to replace the old one. You would simply snap on whichever head you needed onto your Stick meter and it is ready to go.

      This flexibility makes Fieldpiece stand out from its competitors and allows technicians to customize their toolbags to fit their needs. Ok, I get it, accessory heads ARE cool, but what tests can I run with them?  Tests range from CO Detection, Pressure Differential, Air Velocity, Humidity and Superheat / Subcooling. Subsequent posts will break down some various Stick Meters and Accessory heads to give a full feel for what you can accomplish with Fieldpiece.
