Extech Moisture Meters MO210/MO220/MO257/MO750 provide a wealth of moisture inspection options depending on your application. I will begin with the Extech MO210, which is a pocket size moisture detector.

The Extech MO210 Moisture Detector is a handheld meter that uses pins that probe into the surface to get a moisture reading of 6-44% for Wood and 0.2 -2.0% for other materials. This unit has an LCD display that shows a digital readout as well as a bar graph for easy visual verification. This unit is versatile in that it can be used on sheet rock, wall board, plaster, cardboard, mortar, and concrete.

The Extech MO220 is a wood specific moisture detector. This unit contains 8 groups of classifications that contain 170 wood species. This unit is similar to the MO210 in that it uses contact pins that probe through the surface to get your reading. It also includes a heavy duty remote probe for tougher woods. The MO220 also includes a separate air temperature probe to measure simultaneously. This will give a compensated reading to reflect more accurate moisture readings.

Next up we have the Extech MO257 Pinless Moisture Meter. As the name implies, this meter is pinless so it takes non-destructive moisture readings. Using high frequency waves to measure moisture up to depths of 1.6”, the MO257 also has two adjustable audible alarms to warn you when it detects something.

The last moisture meter on our list is the MO750 Soil Moisture Meter. This unit features an 8” Heavy Duty probe that can monitor the moisture level in ground soil up to 50%. This unit can take min/max readings as well as freeze the data on the screen so you can read it after you remove it.

While moisture meters are a relatively simple meter to explain in concept, sometimes it is nice to give a light briefing on them to show the small difference that they might have.
